ABOUT
Originally from Cedar Rapids, IA, Abbey has her BFA in Musical Theatre and Minor in Dance from Millikin University. Abbey has always loved story telling through dance and has spent most of her career based out of NYC in the theatre scene. Abbey’s creative team credits include Assistant to Choreographer Tyler Hanes on Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls on Broadway, Assistant Director for My Fair Lady, featuring the Utah Symphony and starring the late Peter Scolari and Assistant Choreographer on The Music Man by UIA Presents
As a performer, some of Abbey’s credits include Velma, Riff’s girl (West Side Story, Barrington Stage Co, Original Choreography set by Robert La Fosse), Cassie (A Chorus Line, Original Choreography set by KD Smith), Victoria (Cats, Original Choreography set by Curt Olds) Tammy (first regional production of Hairspray, Little Theatre on the Square, directed by Greg Graham), Ms. Polanski (Promises, Promises, Stages St. Louis), and Lottie Ames (Mack & Mabel, Surflight Theater).
Abbey was also a five year member of the Resident Acting Company at the Tony Award winning, Barter Theatre in Virginia. There, she performed over 35 shows including Kost (Cabaret), Eponine (Les Misérables), Randy (A Christmas Story), Lois Lane (Kiss Me Kate), Avenue Q (Lucy T. Slut), Georgia (Curtains), Doris (Miracle on 34th Street), Beth (Little Women) and was regulary assigned as Dance Captain for the bigger musicals.
Abbey made her TV debut on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and has performed on Good Morning America. She also sang and danced her way around the world with Holland America Cruise Line, and was a member of the contemporary dance company ALMA NYC.
In addition to performing, Abbey is an ACE certified group fitness instructor for Equinox holding additional specializations in Athletic Performance and Pre and Post Natal Fitness . She lives in NYC with her husband Byron, daughter Rey, and dog Appa.
